  • Invitation Letter
    • Welcome to the S.M.A.R.T. (Startup Mission for Art/design, Responsibility and Technology) Competition and Conference 2018.

On behalf of all the committee members, we would cordially invite you to the competition and conference. We will hold the S.M.A.R.T. competition in Tanzania for the first time and will also host a conference together.

As the tradition of S.M.A.R.T. competition, we focus on 1) technology-based startup, 2) startup considering social responsibility and 3) business utilizing design and art. Besides these areas, any startup ideas based on convergence of all three areas are more than welcome.

The conference will provide a forum for the presentation of startup-related issues including energy, sustainability, smart systems, appropriate technology, education and topics related to above three areas of competition. We aim to provide opportunities for researchers to exchange knowledge and promote the international and multi-disciplinary collaborations.

The venue, Nelson Mandela African Institute of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) is the leading institute of venture incubation and education of the East Africa as well as the famous gateway to Mt. Kilimanjaro and Serengeti National Park.

We are all looking forward to seeing you in Arusha, Tanzania and have a cheerful time with participating professionals and students.
      Asante Sana,
