  • Innovative Technology and Energy Center(iTEC), the energy industry-linked science and technology center, aims to develop, educate and commercialize innovative appropriate technology suitable for Africa using renewable energy and ICT in electric power, agriculture, health and education for the sustainable development of Africa for the next four years (2017-2020).

    The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) in Arusha is one in a network of Pan-African Institutions of Science and Technology located across Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). The Vision of NM-AIST is to become a world-class institution of higher learning dedicated to the pursuit and promotion of excellence in Science, Engineering, Technology and Innovation (SETI), and their applications for economic growth and sustainable development in Africa.

  • iTEC project aims electrification of rural villages via establishment of independent sustainable mini-grid solar power generation, maintenance and monitoring system.

    The first grid will be installed in Mkalama village, located in Kilimanjaro region, and the handing over ceremony to the villagers will be held on Jan 29, 2018.

  • Gongali Model is a Tanzanian startup selling purified water using a Nanofilter.

    The Nanofliter was invented in order to enhance the water quality (mainly Fluoride issues) in Tanzania without power.

    It has established a community center in Gongali Village where business and other empowerment activities are in progress.

  • 1. Gongali E3empower Center
    The center was electrified via mini-grid renewable solar energy power generation (1kw), and expands electrification to the community including kindergarten, TV room and water center

    2. Hilonga’s project
    Visiting households using cow-dung biogas system instead of using firewood for cooking.
    This has positive effects especially on women because it saves energy and time to collect firewood and prevents eyes and respiratory disease from poisonous firewood smoke.
